HISTORY
- The first day of class I will give you a letter explaining the general curriculum for the year, which is
a study of American history, and my assignment policy. You will also receive your textbooks, which were brand
new last year. Please cover them promptly and keep them covered so they stay in good shape.
- The discovery of America began with the Portuguese explorers trying to find a water way to Asia
for trade. We will look at these men and do some map work tracing their routes. Please
be sure you have colored pencils in your supplies.
RELIGION
- What can you do this year to make a difference? Why is there a starfish on our prayer table?
Come to class Wednesday and find out!
- How did you do with your service hours over the summer?
LITERATURE (my group)
- We will break into Literature groups at the beginning of the year according to the novels you read over the
summer. Be sure you have finished them...look forward to a test on And Then There Were None! Please
remember to bring your reading logs!
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2008-09 8TH GRADERS
- Lots of opportunities are there to help family and perhaps neighbors get ready for the hectic beginning of
the school year! Look for them and add them to any hours you did this summer.
- The Holy Cross Festival is coming soon. This is an excellent way to add on parish hours and really
help those who need you!
